Imprisonment by the Faith The Arrest Cersei is arrested by the Faith Militant on charges of adultery, treason, and murder. She is taken to the Great Sept of Baelor. The Cell She is held in a tower cell, guarded by septas. She is denied sleep and subjected to psychological torture. The Loss of Power Cersei's regency ends. Her uncle Kevan Lannister becomes Lord Regent. She is isolated from her son Tommen.

Confession and Atonement The Confession Cersei confesses to sleeping with Lancel and Osney Kettleblack, hoping to avoid a trial. The High Sparrow demands a walk of atonement. The Walk Cersei is stripped naked, shaved, and forced to walk from the Great Sept to the Red Keep through the streets of King's Landing. The crowd jeers and throws filth at her. The Humiliation Cersei endures the walk, but it breaks her spirit. She is reduced to a crawling, weeping wreck. She reaches the Red Keep and is taken inside by her new champion, Ser Robert Strong.

The Waiting Cersei awaits her trial. She is confined to Maegor's Holdfast, attended by septas. She plans to regain power after being acquitted. The Uncertainty The trial is set to take place, but the book ends before it happens. Cersei's fate hangs in the balance.
